Each table emerges from the next in a cascade of cream-painted carved wood — a self-contained lesson in Louis XVI Neoclassical proportion. The largest table's top carries hand-applied gilt scrollwork framing a central cartouche: the unmistakable visual language of late 18th-century French court design, where every surface was understood as an opportunity for decoration. Inspired by the refined elegance of the Louis XVI era, this set faithfully reproduces the disciplined symmetry and delicate ornamentation that defined the period's break from Rococo excess.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Each table in the set is built from solid pine with a moisture content below 10% — a timber chosen for its dimensional stability, tight grain, and receptiveness to fine carving. The cream painted finish is applied over a prepared ground and finished to a smooth, even tone that catches light softly without harshness. The carpenter's hand is most evident in the legs: straight, tapered, and deeply fluted in the Neoclassical manner, each terminating in a turned cylindrical foot. The aprons are carved with paired acanthus-leaf sprays flanked by circular rosette medallions at each corner — motifs drawn directly from the Louis XVI decorative vocabulary. The largest table's top surface features gilded scrollwork arabesques applied with a brush, adding a layer of decorative richness that distinguishes this set from a simply painted piece.

Dimensions & Details

Width: 75 cm / Depth: 40 cm / Height: 53 cm (largest table). The three tables nest completely within one another for compact storage, then deploy individually as needed. The set sits solidly on four legs per table with no wobble — a sign of well-executed mortise-and-tenon joinery throughout.

Handcrafted in Egypt

This nesting table set is handcrafted in Egypt by artisans trained in the European classical tradition. At Brass & Wood, every piece begins as solid timber and passes through the hands of carvers, painters, and finishers before leaving the workshop. The cream finish and gilt decoration are applied by hand, ensuring that no two sets are entirely identical — each carries the subtle mark of its maker. Custom finishes and dimensions are available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials is this made from?

The nesting tables are constructed entirely from solid pine (moisture content below 10%), finished with a hand-applied cream paint and gilt scrollwork decoration on the largest table's top surface.

Is assembly required?

Minimal assembly is required — the tables arrive largely ready to use, with only simple leg attachment needed in most configurations.

Can this be customized?

Yes.
