Design Inspiration

Rooted in the opulent French Louis XV Rococo tradition, this bombe commode captures the era's signature serpentine curves, asymmetric flourishes, and theatrical elegance. The swelling, bombé silhouette — wider at the base than the top — was the hallmark of mid-18th century Parisian cabinet-making, evoking movement and sculptural grandeur in every line.

Materials

The corpus is constructed from solid hardwood and dressed in a lustrous warm walnut veneer with parquetry inlay detailing. The generously proportioned top is fashioned from shaped honey-toned marble with natural veining, providing both beauty and durability. Drawer interiors are lined in deep burgundy fabric for a refined, jewellery-box finish.

Gilt Brass Ormolu Mounts

Every surface is enriched with hand-applied antique gilt brass ormolu mounts — from the scrolling acanthus drawer pulls and escutcheons to the foliate corner sabots and decorative side cartouches — each individually cast and chased to museum-quality detail.

Craftsmanship

Handcrafted in Egypt by Brass & Wood artisans trained in classical European joinery, this commode represents hundreds of hours of skilled labour. The three-drawer configuration — two small upper drawers flanking a central pull and one deep lower drawer — offers generous, practical storage without compromising aesthetic integrity.
