Napoleon III Rococo Revival Brass Guéridon — Three-Leg Dragon & Foliage Marble-Top Side Table

Design & Inspiration

Place this guéridon in a corner of your salon and the room immediately acquires a focal point that no painting could replicate. Three sinuous legs rise from scroll feet, each cast with coiling dragons, layered foliage, and latticed panels — a tour de force of the Napoleon III Rococo Revival repertoire, when Second Empire Paris demanded that every surface speak with ornamental authority. The reticulated apron encircling the warm beige marble top reads almost like wrought ironwork translated into gilded brass: open, intricate, and alive with light.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The base is cast and hand-finished in antique gold brass, with each dragon scale, acanthus leaf, and lattice intersection individually chased and patinated to create depth of shadow and surface warmth. The three legs are joined mid-shaft by a central stretcher crowned with a pine-cone finial — a classicizing accent that grounds the otherwise exuberant Rococo ornament. The tabletop is a round slab of Crema Marfil-toned marble whose soft, warm grain complements the aged gold of the metalwork without competing with it. The legs themselves incorporate slender shafts of solid pine, visible between the brass castings, adding structural integrity and the warmth of natural material alongside the metal.

Dimensions & Details

Length: 25 cm / Width: 25 cm
This compact footprint makes the guéridon ideal as an accent piece: beside an armchair, at the head of a bed, or as a display stand for a single sculptural object. Its vertical proportions — the table is notably tall relative to its diameter — give it the presence of a pedestal as much as a side table.
