Design & Inspiration

There is a moment in a well-appointed room when the eye stops and refuses to move on. This Neoclassical celadon ceramic urn creates exactly that pause. Standing 50 cm tall on its pierced gilt tripod, it draws on the refined decorative vocabulary of the Louis XVI era — a period when French royal workshops perfected the art of combining pale porcelain bodies with richly worked gilt-bronze mounts. The result was a category of object that transcended mere decoration: it became sculpture, architecture, and statement simultaneously.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The urn body is formed in celadon ceramic — the pale, translucent green-grey that has signified refinement since the Chinese Song dynasty and was enthusiastically adopted by European ateliers in the 18th century. Ribbed vertically in the Louis XVI manner, the body is embraced by gilt ormolu mounts of exceptional detail: a swagged rose garland cascades from paired pine finials at the rim, dropping in graceful arcs to a central floral boss at the waist. Twisted rope-form gilt columns frame the body at intervals, anchored at the base by a spread-wing eagle mount — a motif drawn from the Neoclassical vocabulary of antiquity. The tripod base is pierced with acanthus scrollwork and rests on three scroll-footed legs, each cast with botanical precision. Every brass element is handcrafted and finished with rich gilt plating that catches light across its textured surfaces.

Dimensions & Details

Height: 50 cm | Width: 20 cm | Depth: 20 cm | Weight: 4 kg. The proportions follow the classical canon: a tall, tapered urn form that draws the eye upward, terminating in the pine finial crest. The piece ships partially assembled and requires minimal setup. Fragile — professional packing is applied for safe delivery.

Handcrafted in Egypt

This urn is handcrafted in Egypt by Brass & Wood artisans trained in the European classical tradition. Each gilt ormolu mount is individually cast, finished, and fitted to the ceramic body — a process that reflects the same workshop approach used in the Paris ateliers of the 18th century. Customization in brass finish is available: choose from Gold, Silver, or Antique Gold to suit your interior palette.
