Empire Neoclassical Round Corner Table with Gold Leaf Carvings & Marquetry Top
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period, this round corner table embodies the triumphal spirit of Neoclassical design. The laurel wreath marquetry crowning the tabletop is a direct homage to Napoleonic iconography, while the acanthus-leaf friezes encircling the apron echo the opulence of early 19th-century Parisian ateliers. Every proportion has been studied from period originals to deliver authentic historical resonance in a contemporary interior.
Materials & Finish
The circular top is veneered in richly figured burr wood, inlaid with contrasting light wood to form concentric banding and a central laurel wreath motif. The apron features heavily carved acanthus friezes finished in genuine gold leaf, punctuated by bevelled burr-wood cartouche panels. Four tapered, ebonised solid-wood legs rise from swept stretchers in ivory lacquer, each column adorned with full gold leaf acanthus capitals and sabots for a truly regal silhouette.
Craftsmanship
Every element of this table is hand-produced in the Brass & Wood workshops in Egypt, where master craftsmen combine traditional European joinery techniques with meticulous hand-carving and gilding. The marquetry is cut and laid by hand, ensuring no two pieces are ever identical. Multiple layers of hand-applied lacquer protect the surfaces while preserving the warmth and depth of the natural wood grain.
