Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period, this salon armchair embodies the bold geometry and opulent ornamentation that defined early 19th-century European court furniture. The structured tub silhouette, flanked by pillar-like arms adorned with medallion rosettes and interlaced gilt motifs punctuated by ruby-red accents, recalls the ceremonial aesthetic of Napoleonic interiors. Brass & Wood has faithfully translated this imperial vocabulary into a piece built for today's luxury living room.

Materials & Finish

The frame is crafted from solid hardwood finished in a deep ebonised lacquer, with panels of warm burr wood veneer framed by precisely applied black-and-gold inlay borders. Pilaster columns on each arm carry hand-applied gilt detailing and crowned by square gilt medallion cartouches. A sweeping gilt laurel wreath appliqué adorns the front apron, while four generously proportioned bun feet — ebonised below, gilded above — anchor the piece with authoritative elegance. The seating surfaces are upholstered in a tone-on-tone damask fabric in warm ivory and champagne tones, complemented by a matching loose cushion in a coordinating plain weave.

Every element of this armchair is produced entirely by hand in Brass & Wood's Cairo atelier. Skilled artisans apply multiple layers of finish, hand-carve and gild each ornamental detail, and stretch and pin the upholstery to exacting standards — ensuring that no two pieces are ever quite identical.
