Louis XV Console Table | Marquetry Top & Gilt Brass Mounts
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the golden age of French decorative arts, this console captures the spirited elegance of the Louis XV era. Sinuous cabriole legs, a shapely serpentine apron, and exquisitely balanced marquetry veneer recall the ateliers of eighteenth-century Versailles — where furniture was considered sculpture. Brass & Wood has faithfully translated this heritage into a piece that commands attention in any grand entrance or salon.
Materials & Finish
The frame is built from kiln-dried solid mahogany, ensuring structural integrity across generations. The book-matched sunburst marquetry top is crafted from hand-selected mahogany veneers, framed by delicate gilt-brass banding. Decorative mounts — corner cartouches, a central floral escutcheon, and sabots — are cast in solid brass and individually burnished to an antique gold finish. The surface receives multiple coats of hand-rubbed lacquer for a warm, luminous glow.
Craftsmanship
Every console is assembled, carved, and finished entirely by hand in the Brass & Wood Cairo atelier. Joinery is executed with traditional mortise-and-tenon construction; no staples or MDF shortcuts are used. The result is heirloom furniture built to last centuries, not seasons.
