Louis XV Bombe Commode with Ormolu Mounts & Breche Marble Top

Design Inspiration

Inspired by the grandeur of 18th-century French court furniture, this bombe commode captures the fluid curves and opulent ornamentation that defined the Louis XV period. The sweeping serpentine silhouette, cabriole legs, and dramatic figural corner mounts evoke the workshops of the great Parisian ébénistes.

Materials

The piece is crafted from solid hardwood and dressed in a masterfully book-matched chevron kingwood veneer. The top is finished with a slab of genuine Breche marble in warm burgundy and cream tones. All mounts — including the stately female-mask corner cartouches, foliate drawer pulls, and laurel branch borders — are cast in solid brass and hand-finished in antique gold.

Craftsmanship

Each commode is handcrafted in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt by artisans trained in classical European joinery. The bombe form is shaped by hand, every brass mount is individually fitted, and the marble top is precision-cut and polished to a smooth finish — ensuring no two pieces are ever identical.
