The octagonal Emperador marble top — its warm chocolate veining shot through with cream — sits within a shaped apron alive with hand-carved flower garlands, C-scrolls, and a central acanthus cartouche. Below, four classic cabriole legs swell outward at the knee, draw inward at the ankle, and resolve into scroll feet — the signature silhouette of the Louis XV period (1730–1770), a moment in French design when every straight line was considered a missed opportunity. This piece faithfully reproduces that tradition in solid wood dressed in a warm antique gold finish.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The frame is crafted from solid beech dried to under 10% humidity — a density and stability that allows the carver's tools to cut clean, crisp profiles without risk of splitting or checking over time. The antiqued gold finish is applied by hand in graduated layers, building depth in the recesses while allowing the high-relief flower clusters and scrollwork to catch the light from their proud surfaces. The Emperador marble top is shaped to an octagonal form with gently notched corners that follow the contour of the apron below — a considered design decision that keeps the relationship between stone and wood coherent rather than merely decorative. The marble's natural variation means each top is singular: no two pieces carry identical veining.

Dimensions & Details

Width: 55 cm / Depth: 55 cm / Height: 65 cm
The proportions place the table top at a practical height beside a classic armchair or at the end of a sofa. The footprint is compact enough for a corner position yet substantial enough to carry a lamp, a tray, or a small arrangement of books and objects without appearing overloaded.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every Brass & Wood side table is built and finished by hand in Egypt by craftsmen who work within a long tradition of classical European furniture reproduction. The carving is executed directly into solid wood — not applied resin or composition ornament — and the finish is built up in multiple hand-rubbed coats. The result is a piece with genuine weight and presence, designed to last and to age with character rather than simply with wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the table top made from?

The top is natural Emperador marble — a warm brown stone with cream and gold veining quarried in Spain.
