Neoclassical Empire Marble & Brass Column Pedestal
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire and Neoclassical movements, this column pedestal draws from the architectural vocabulary of ancient Rome and Greece. The soaring shaft, adorned with a gilded Corinthian capital, swag drapery mounts, and tassel details, speaks to the opulence that defined early 19th-century European interiors. Its square plinth base, decorated with ormolu figural plaques, anchors the composition with monumental authority.
Materials & Finish
Crafted from genuine veined marble in a warm honey-beige tone, the column is enriched throughout with hand-cast antique brass (ormolu-style) mounts. The brass elements — capital, collar rings, swag ornaments, and plinth appliqués — are finished in a lustrous antique gold patina that complements the natural movement of the stone. Every brass component is individually fitted and secured to the marble body by Brass & Wood artisans in Egypt.
Craftsmanship
Each pedestal is produced in the Brass & Wood atelier using time-honoured techniques that replicate the finest 19th-century European workshops. The marble sections are carefully shaped and polished, while the brass ornaments are cast, chased, and hand-patinated to achieve authentic period character. The result is a piece that serves equally as a sculptural accent, a plant stand, or a display pedestal for art objects.
