Verona Caned Bed with Carved Garland Crest in Antique Ivory

A grand bed built around panels of woven cane set into a deeply carved frame finished in antique ivory and rubbed back to a soft patina. The tall headboard rises to a crest of scrolls and flowers gathered around a central cartouche, with ribbon-tied garlands draping the curve on either side. The footboard answers it with an oval medallion of carved foliage at its centre, more garlands running along the rail, and short turned feet that close the composition.

The cane is hand-woven and stretched panel by panel, and every scroll, swag and rosette is carved before the ivory finish is laid on and worked back so the relief catches the light. Handcrafted by Brass & Wood in Egypt, it is made to anchor a classical bedroom — the piece the rest of the room is arranged around.
