3-Seat Empire Salon Sofa with Gilt Wood & Burl Veneer
Imperial Grandeur Reborn
Inspired by the solemn splendour of early 19th-century French Empire design, this 3-seat salon sofa captures the authority and refinement that once graced the palaces of Napoleon's era. Brass & Wood master craftsmen have faithfully reproduced every architectural detail — from the bold, colonnaded armrests to the sweeping curved back panel — in their Egyptian atelier, honouring a tradition of excellence that spans centuries.
Materials & Finish
The exterior panels are clad in richly grained burl veneer, framed by crisp ebonised solid-wood borders inlaid with a repeating brass interlace motif highlighted by deep red accent beads. The front rail is adorned with a hand-gilded acanthus-leaf and laurel appliqué in antique gold finish, a hallmark of Empire ornamentation. Turned and reeded bun feet in contrasting gilded and ebonised wood anchor the piece with quiet drama. The seating surface and inner panels are upholstered in a pale silver-beige floral damask fabric, complemented by generously proportioned scatter cushions in solid ivory.
Craftsmanship & Detail
Every joint, inlay, and gilded element is executed entirely by hand. The brass interlace borders are individually fitted to each panel, while the carved front appliqué is cast and hand-chased before receiving multiple layers of gold leaf. The column capitals on the outer armrests bear finely detailed lion-mask medallions — a quintessential Empire motif — finished in antique gold. The result is a piece that functions as both a functional seat and a work of decorative art.
