Design Inspiration

Rooted in the opulence of 18th-century French court furniture, this commode captures the fluid, asymmetrical spirit of the Louis XV Rococo period. The undulating serpentine facade and elegantly curved cabriole legs reflect the era's deliberate departure from rigid classical lines, evoking the warmth and intimacy of the French boudoir.

Materials

Crafted entirely from solid hardwood, the piece is finished in a hand-applied antique walnut stain that accentuates the natural grain and depth of the timber. Each of the nine generous drawers is adorned with a hand-cast brass drop pull bearing intricate foliate motifs, patinated to an aged bronze tone that harmonises beautifully with the warm wood tones.

Craftsmanship

Every curve of the frame is shaped and refined entirely by hand in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt, faithfully reproducing the joinery and decorative carving traditions of the original period pieces. The apron features a sculpted scrollwork skirt, and the cabriole legs terminate in gently pad feet — details that distinguish a true artisan replica from mass-produced imitations.
