Rococo Brass & Amber Glass Round Tray — Floral Scroll Frame
Rococo Brass & Amber Glass Round Tray — Floral Scroll Frame
Design & Inspiration
Set a round tray on a console or dining table and it becomes something more than a serving piece — it becomes a pause in the room. This Rococo-inspired tray earns that pause. The deeply cast brass frame curves and writhes with the characteristic asymmetric energy of the Louis XV period: floral clusters, C-scrolls, and leafy tendrils cascade around the perimeter, the kind of ornament that rewards a second look. Cradled inside that frame is a pressed-glass tray in warm amber, its surface pressed with a radiating geometric pattern — sunburst center expanding into hexagonal cells — a nod to the Islamic geometric tradition that travels so naturally alongside European classical forms in the hands of Egyptian craftsmen.
Materials & Craftsmanship
The frame is cast brass, finished in your chosen color, with the texture and density that distinguish cast work from stamped sheet metal. Each floral scroll retains the sharpness of hand-finishing — edges that catch light differently depending on the angle. The amber glass tray insert is pressed with a multi-faceted geometric relief across its full surface, giving it a prismatic quality under both natural and artificial light. The two elements — warm amber glass, gilded scrolling brass — create a dialogue between European Rococo ornament and the geometric precision of classical Islamic decorative arts. Together, they read as a single, unified object.
