Rococo Brass Hurricane Candleholder with Globe Glass Shade and Acanthus Base

Design & Inspiration

There is a quiet drama in the way candlelight moves through glass — and this Rococo brass hurricane candleholder is designed to make the most of every flicker. Inspired by the grand decorative arts of 18th-century France, this piece faithfully reproduces the exuberant spirit of the Louis XV era: organic curves, naturalistic ornament, and a golden warmth that transforms any surface into a stage for light. Whether placed on a dining table, a hallway console, or a reception mantle, it commands attention without demanding it.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The base and column are cast and hand-finished in solid brass, enriched with a high-polish finish that catches and multiplies ambient light. The column rises from a wide, gadrooned dome base edged with scrolling Rococo volutes — each leaf and curve shaped by skilled craftsmen. The column itself is reeded in the classical tradition, broadening at its midpoint into a baluster form adorned with acanthus leaf appliqués. A decorative collar of cast foliate motifs crowns the column, cradling the globe and lending the composition its characteristic Rococo theatricality. The globe shade is hand-blown clear glass, its generous spherical form allowing maximum light diffusion while protecting the flame from drafts — a functional elegance the 18th century perfected.
