Rococo Filigree Metal & Crystal Tissue Box - Oval Wreath Lid

Design & Inspiration

Few decorative objects command a dressing table or salon sideboard with quite the authority of this Rococo filigree tissue box. Inspired by the exuberant decorative language of 18th-century European court interiors — where every surface was an invitation to admire — this piece wraps a purely functional object in the full vocabulary of period ornament. The cut-crystal body catches and scatters light with each angle, while the intricate metalwork frame creates an interplay of solid and void that feels genuinely alive. This is not décor that recedes into the background; it holds the room.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The body is formed from faceted crystal panels whose diamond-cut texture amplifies ambient light and lends the piece a cool, jewel-like brilliance. The surrounding framework is cast and hand-finished metal worked into continuous filigree chains of interlocking foliate ogives — a motif rooted in Gothic tracery but reinterpreted here with Rococo lightness. The lid features a central oval cartouche bordered by a laurel-and-berry wreath in relief, flanked by scrolled acanthus corner flourishes. Twin loop handles rise from the short ends, each terminating in naturalistic foliate knuckles. Four cabriole feet, each cast with crisp acanthus capping, elevate the box and complete the silhouette. Every metal component is hand-polished to a mirror finish, available across multiple metal finishes to suit your interior palette.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every piece bearing the Brass & Wood name is produced in our Egyptian workshop, where skilled artisans with decades of experience in classical European reproduction techniques hand-finish each component. The filigree frames are individually inspected, the crystal panels seated by hand, and the feet aligned with precision before final assembly. This commitment to craft means no two pieces are perfectly identical — each carries the subtle marks of human attention that mass production cannot replicate.
