Grand Velvet-Upholstered Bed with Carved Crest
A grand bed built around a tall arched headboard, its upholstered panel worked in soft taupe velvet and framed by a carved timber surround finished in a warm gilded tone. The crest rises to a pierced centre of scrolls and foliage that spreads outward along the top rail, and the shaped frame steps down at either shoulder to meet the panel. The base is fully upholstered in the same velvet, so the carving reads as a single ornament floating above an unbroken field of fabric.
The frame is carved from solid timber and hand-finished, then upholstered directly on the frame so the fabric follows every curve without a visible seam at the corners. Handcrafted by Brass & Wood in Egypt, it is made to anchor a master bedroom: generous enough to hold its own beneath a high ceiling, restrained enough to sit against a plain wall or a panelled one.
