Louis XV Bergère Salon Chair with Cane Panels & Ivory Lacquer Frame
Inspired by the Court of Versailles
The Louis XV Bergère chair is one of the most iconic silhouettes of French Rococo furniture. Characterised by its enveloping barrel-shaped back, curved cabriole legs, and intricately carved crest rail adorned with floral motifs, this piece captures the romantic opulence of eighteenth-century Parisian interiors. Brass & Wood's artisans in Egypt have faithfully reproduced every sculpted detail, bringing a timeless salon statement to contemporary homes.
Materials & Finish
The solid wood frame is finished in a refined ivory lacquer with a lightly antiqued tone, lending a soft, luminous character that complements both all-white and richly coloured interiors. The side and back wings are filled with hand-woven cane panels, providing an airy counterpoint to the lush upholstery. The seat and central back panel are upholstered in a tone-on-tone ivory damask fabric, its subtle geometric pattern adding quiet texture and depth.
Craftsmanship
Every joint, carved scroll, and acanthus leaf detail is shaped by hand. The cane weaving follows traditional methods, ensuring even tension and long-lasting durability. The upholstered seat cushion offers a comfortable, supportive sit suitable for salon seating, dressing rooms, and elegant bedroom corners. A decorative matching cushion completes the presentation. Each piece is inspected individually before leaving the Brass & Wood workshop.
Placement & Styling
Ideal as a statement accent chair in a living room, bedroom, hallway, or reception area. Pairs beautifully with classical console tables, gilded mirrors, and soft ambient lighting. Also suited to library reading nooks and boutique hotel lobbies seeking an air of refined European heritage.
