Louis XV Rococo Gilded Console Table - Carved Rocaille Apron & Cabriole Legs
Design & Inspiration
Place this console against a wall and the room immediately reorganizes itself around it. The fully gilded frame catches every shift of ambient light — morning sun, candlelight, the glow of a chandelier — and returns it multiplied, warming the entire wall it inhabits. This is a console table faithfully reproduced in the tradition of the French Louis XV period (1730–1770), when Rococo's defining genius was the ability to make structural elements — legs, apron, stretcher — indistinguishable from pure ornament. Every surface here is carved; nothing is left plain.
Materials & Craftsmanship
The frame is built from Romanian solid redwood (under 10% humidity), chosen for its stability and its ability to hold deep relief carving without splitting. Craftsmen in our Egyptian workshop hand-carved the entire frame: the deeply undercut acanthus leaves flowing along the apron's upper rail, the asymmetric C-scroll cartouches at the centre front, the shell and foliate knees on each cabriole leg, and the scrolled X-stretcher that ties the four legs together at mid-height. The gilded finish is applied in multiple ground coats followed by a hand-rubbed gold layer that deepens in the recesses and brightens on the high points of each carved motif — creating the dimensional quality that separates genuine hand-carving from moulded reproduction. The top is a shaped crema marfil marble slab with softly veined warm beige tones, its serpentine edge profile following the contour of the carved apron below.

Handcrafted in Egypt
Every piece from Brass & Wood is produced in our Egyptian workshop by craftsmen trained in classical European joinery and hand-carving techniques. The Louis XV Rococo console you see here represents dozens of hours of carving, preparation, and gilding — a process that cannot be shortened without compromising the depth and clarity of the ornament. This is what separates a faithfully reproduced classic from a mass-produced imitation: the intention behind every chisel stroke is visible in the finished piece.
