Louis XVI Ivory Garland Bedroom Set
A softly antiqued ivory bedroom set drawn straight from the Louis XVI vocabulary. The bed rises to a gently arched, moulded headboard crowned with turned finials, while the footboard carries the set's signature detail: a hand-carved garland of flowers and ribbon spilling in relief across a shaped panel, framed by a beaded moulding. The bedside commodes echo the same language on a smaller scale — a single moulded drawer with an aged brass knob, corner blocks carved with stylised rosettes, slender fluted columns tapering to turned feet, and two open shelves in woven cane that keep the piece light and airy. The painted finish is rubbed back along the edges and carving so the relief catches the light rather than flattening under the colour.
Every garland, rosette and flute is cut by hand into solid timber before the ivory finish is layered, sanded and softly distressed, and the cane shelves are woven and fitted panel by panel. Handcrafted by Brass & Wood in Egypt, the set suits a calm, light-filled bedroom — pale linens, muted walls, an antique rug — where classical French detail is meant to whisper rather than announce itself.
