Rococo Carved Guéridon Side Table with Emperador Marble Top

Design & Inspiration

Place this table beside a salon chair or at the foot of a bed, and the room immediately declares its intentions. The circular Emperador marble top — its warm amber and ivory veining catching the light — floats above a base of four deeply moulded cabriole legs joined by a scrolled cross-stretcher centered on a hand-carved finial. This is the guéridon in its most expressive Rococo form: a piece that is simultaneously functional and sculptural, present in aristocratic French salons from the 1740s onward and equally at home in a contemporary interior that values substance over trend.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The base is constructed from solid pine and shaped by hand — each leg individually carved with reeded channels that run the full length, terminating in scroll feet of considerable refinement. The apron beneath the marble carries a central hand-carved floral cartouche flanked by symmetrical acanthus-and-scroll reliefs, faithful to the decorative vocabulary of the Louis XV period. The finish is a warm antique gold lacquer, applied in multiple coats and hand-rubbed to achieve depth rather than shine. The Emperador marble top is cut to a true circle, its natural veining unique to each slab, and seated into a carved wood beading that frames it without competing.

Dimensions & Details

Dimensions are made to order — please contact Brass & Wood to discuss sizing requirements for your space. The piece ships fully assembled with minimal on-site adjustments required. As with all marble-topped furniture, the top is fragile and should be handled with care during placement.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every guéridon in this range leaves the Brass & Wood workshop in Egypt as a singular object — the carving, finishing, and marble-setting done by hand by craftsmen trained in classical European techniques. The ability to customize extends to marble selection, finish tone, and scale, making this table as adaptable as the tradition it honors.
