louis-xvi-wall-plate-hanger-musical-trophy-crest-pineapple-finial
Louis XVI Rococo Wall Plate Hanger with Musical Trophy Crest and Pineapple Finial

Design and Inspiration

Imagine a corner of a French salon circa 1780 — a gilded frame catches the candlelight, its silhouette rising from a sculpted pineapple at the base through a circular plate ring encrusted with acanthus scrollwork, all the way to a crest of crossed trumpets, a drum, and floral sprays bound by a looping ribbon. This wall plate hanger draws directly from the Louis XVI decorative vocabulary, where trophies — symbolic arrangements of instruments, weapons, or tools — served as the most refined wall ornament of the Neoclassical court. The pineapple, a historic emblem of hospitality and worldly prestige, anchors the composition at the base with quiet authority.

Materials and Craftsmanship

The frame is cast in brass and finished in a warm champagne gold, capturing the luminous quality of gilt bronze without the weight. Every element — the leafy acanthus border of the circular ring, the individual trumpet bells of the musical trophy, the diamond-quilted texture of the pineapple — has been individually detailed by hand. The circular center is fitted to cradle a decorative ceramic plate, transforming a display plate into a framed wall piece. The hanging loop at the top is integrated seamlessly into the branch-form crest, designed to sit flush against the wall.

Dimensions and Details

Width: 17 cm / Height: 41 cm
This piece is designed to display a single decorative plate of approximately 12 to 14 cm diameter.
