baroque-brass-mantel-clock-urn-finial-open-fretwork-arch
Baroque Brass Mantel Clock with Urn Finial & Open Fretwork Arch

Design & Inspiration

Time, in the Baroque imagination, was never merely functional — it was theatrical. This handcrafted brass mantel clock faithfully interprets the grandeur of 17th-century European court aesthetics, where every object on a nobleman's mantelpiece was expected to command the room. The sweeping open fretwork arch, the towering urn-form finial crowned with a pine cone motif, and the intricate pierced apron at the base all speak the visual language of Baroque excess — architectural, bold, and unmistakably regal. This is a clock that does not simply tell time; it presides over a space.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Cast entirely in solid brass, this mantel clock is the product of skilled hands guided by centuries-old European foundry traditions. The body is constructed through lost-wax casting, a technique that captures the finest filigree detail — from the scrolling acanthus volutes flanking the arch to the delicate rocaille motifs adorning the case. Every surface has been polished and finished to achieve a warm, luminous tone that catches light with depth and richness. The Roman numeral dial features a richly decorated face, housed within a round bezel that anchors the composition with classical authority. Powered by a precision quartz movement, this piece marries old-world aesthetics with modern timekeeping reliability.

Dimensions & Details

Weighing approximately 4 kg, this substantial piece carries the visual weight befitting its Baroque inspiration. The open fretwork structure reveals the interior architecture of the case, creating dynamic interplay of light and shadow across the polished brass surfaces. Four ornamental feet — scrolled and finely cast — elevate the base, completing the composition with the same care applied to every other element. The urn finial at the crown rises well above the arch, establishing a clear vertical hierarchy that draws the eye upward in true Baroque fashion.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Produced in Egypt by Brass & Wood, this mantel clock is part of a curated collection of luxury European replica pieces crafted for those who appreciate the art of classical design.
