The entire top of this low table is a field of Damascene marquetry: thousands of hand-cut pieces of contrasting woods set into interlocking star medallions, radiating from a central rosette and bordered by fine banded stringing.
The pattern continues down the deep apron on every side, so the table reads as one continuous inlaid surface, and a plain plinth base keeps the geometry as the only ornament. A centrepiece for a salon that already has enough gold in it.
