Florence Neoclassical Ottoman Stool in Ivory Lacquer

A compact square stool with a generously padded seat upholstered in a soft, sand-toned velvet that keeps its own quiet shade against the pale frame. The apron is left plain except for a carved foliate tablet set at its centre, with small rosette blocks marking each corner where the legs meet the seat rail. The legs themselves are square and gently tapered in the neoclassical manner, splaying just enough to give the piece a settled stance. The whitewashed ivory lacquer is rubbed back over the carving so the relief reads clearly without any gilding.

The frame is carved and assembled by hand, the seat sprung and hand-padded before the velvet is stretched and tacked so the top stays crisp at its edges. Handcrafted by Brass & Wood in Egypt, it is sized to slide neatly under a dressing table and light enough to move to the foot of the bed, a window bay or a hallway console when an extra seat is needed.
