Louis XV Bombe Commode with Marquetry Inlay & Marble Top
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the golden age of French Rococo, this bombe commode captures the sweeping curves and opulent ornamentation that defined Louis XV court furniture. The serpentine silhouette, cabriole legs tipped in gilded brass sabots, and symmetrical floral marquetry medallions evoke the grandeur of Versailles in its most lavish era.
Materials
Constructed from solid hardwood, the case is veneered in richly grained kingwood laid in a chevron pattern. The surface is crowned with a shaped slab of genuine emperador marble, its warm amber and ivory veining harmonizing with the warm tones of the wood. Ormolu-style brass mounts — escutcheons, corner guards, and foliate pulls — are cast and hand-finished to an antique gold patina.
Craftsmanship
Each piece is entirely handcrafted in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt by master artisans trained in classical European joinery. The marquetry panels are individually cut and inlaid by hand, depicting birds, acanthus scrolls, floral urns, and mythological motifs with extraordinary precision. Three shaped drawers glide on hand-fitted runners, their fronts continuing the decorative veneer seamlessly across the bombe form.
