Louis XVI Green Lacquer & Marble Console Table with Gold Leaf Accents

Design & Inspiration

Rooted in the refined elegance of the French Louis XVI period, this console table captures the neoclassical spirit at its finest. Straight, tapering fluted legs crowned with carved rosette capitals, swag and garland friezes, and symmetrical drawer fronts all speak to the disciplined opulence that defined Versailles interiors. The bold apple-green lacquer finish — a colour beloved by 18th-century French ébénistes — gives this piece a striking contemporary confidence while remaining faithful to its historical roots.

Materials & Finish

The frame is constructed from solid hardwood, hand-carved by master craftsmen at the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt. Every ornamental detail — rosettes, floral swags, column capitals, and tapered feet — is highlighted with genuine gold-leaf gilding, creating luminous contrast against the vibrant green lacquer ground. The top is dressed in a slab of richly veined dark grey marble, adding natural weight and cool sophistication to the composition. A secondary open shelf at stretcher level echoes the marble top in proportion, offering practical display space.

Craftsmanship

Each console passes through multiple stages of hand-finishing: wood shaping, gesso preparation, lacquer application, gilding, and final quality inspection. The result is a heirloom-quality piece that rewards close inspection — every carved leaf and beaded moulding executed with the patience of the classical tradition. Brass & Wood replicates the great European workshops so that this legacy lives in contemporary homes worldwide.

Dimensions & Details

N/A
