Rocaille Carved Walnut Dining Chair
Design & Inspiration
The Rocaille Carved Walnut Dining Chair draws its soul from the exuberant Louis XV Rocaille movement — a celebration of asymmetric curves, organic motifs, and gilded refinement. Every line of this chair flows with the confidence of 18th-century French court furniture, reimagined for contemporary luxury interiors. The scalloped crest rail, scrolled armrests, and cabriole legs ending in gold-tipped scrolled feet create a silhouette that is instantly recognisable as haute craftsmanship.
Materials
The frame is crafted from premium solid walnut, finished in a warm medium-brown hand-rubbed tone that highlights the natural grain. Brass-gold leaf accents are applied by hand along the carved ridges of the legs, seat rail, and crest, adding luminous contrast. The seat and back panels are upholstered in a silver-blue Jacquard fabric featuring an intricate diamond lattice on the front face, while the reverse of the back panel showcases an elegant damask floral motif — a detail that elevates the chair even when viewed from behind.
Craftsmanship
Each chair is individually hand-carved and assembled by master artisans in our workshop. The carved ornamentation — floral crests, acanthus knees, and scroll feet — is executed with fine chisels to achieve crisp, shadow-catching detail. Upholstery is hand-applied with precision-cut fabric panels, finished with a delicate twisted-cord trim that frames both seat and back cushion panels. The result is a piece that bears the subtle marks of human skill rather than machine uniformity.
Available Configurations
This chair is available in two Arm Type options: With Arms — featuring elegantly scrolled solid-walnut armrests ideal for head-of-table or accent placement, and Without Arms — a streamlined profile perfect for close-set dining configurations. Both variants share identical frame carving, upholstery, and finish.
