Baroque Marquetry Salon Coffee Table with Gilded Cabriole Legs
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of Baroque and Rococo European courts, this salon coffee table channels the opulence of 17th- and 18th-century palace interiors. The square tabletop is a canvas of extraordinary marquetry: a central medallion radiating floral and foliate motifs is framed by symmetrical scrollwork, acanthus flourishes, and circular rosette cartouches — all executed in contrasting fine hardwood veneers. Every line speaks to a tradition of aristocratic refinement.
Materials & Finish
The table is constructed on a solid wood frame, its apron dressed in elegant vertical reeding and bordered by a continuous marquetry frieze of heart-and-scroll ornament. The four cabriole legs are the crowning achievement: hand-carved from solid wood and finished in brilliant gold-leaf gilding, their knees adorned with acanthus leaf carvings and terminating in scrolled pad feet. The tabletop surface carries a rich warm-brown varnished finish that deepens the contrast of the inlaid patterns.
Craftsmanship
Every piece is handcrafted at the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt by master craftsmen trained in classical European joinery and gilding traditions. Marquetry veneers are hand-cut and individually set; gilded elements are applied by hand using traditional gold-leaf techniques. The result is a singular objet d'art that doubles as a functional centrepiece for a distinguished living room.
