Rooted in the refined elegance of late 18th-century French court furniture, this corner table embodies the Louis XVI Neoclassical ideal: symmetry, restraint, and sublime ornamental detail. The octagonally chamfered top showcases a breathtaking hand-cut marquetry composition — medallion florals, scrolling acanthus, and mirrored figural vignettes — framed by a brass banding that catches every beam of light.

Materials & Finishes

The table is constructed from solid mahogany, stained to a deep, warm rosewood tone and finished with a hand-polished lacquer. The apron is adorned with ormolu gilt-bronze friezes and individually hand-painted porcelain medallions set within gilded cartouches. Corner mounts and tapered leg capitals are cast in solid brass and hand-chased to achieve the luminous antique-gold finish synonymous with authentic period furniture. Slender tapered legs terminate in polished gilt-brass sabots.

Craftsmanship

Every element of this table is produced in Brass & Wood's Cairo atelier using traditional European joinery and hand-finishing techniques passed down through generations. The marquetry alone involves the precise cutting and assembly of multiple wood veneers — sycamore, walnut, and satinwood — to create the painterly surface seen on the top. Porcelain medallions are fired and hand-decorated by specialist artisans, ensuring no two pieces are identical.
