Brass & Wood Rococo Gold-Leaf Solid Wood Dining Chair with Burgundy Velvet Tufted Upholstery (Without Arms)
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the exuberance of 18th-century Rococo, this dining chair captures the theatrical grandeur of the French court. The dramatic oval medallion back, crowned with a cascading shell-and-acanthus crest, and the pierced, scroll-carved apron below the seat evoke the playful opulence that defined an era. Every curve tells a story of artisanal ambition and aristocratic taste.
Materials & Finish
The frame is constructed from solid fine hardwoods, hand-carved and dressed in a rich gold-leaf finish that glows with warm, luminous depth. The seat and oval back panel are upholstered in plush deep-burgundy velvet, hand-tufted in a classic diamond capitonné pattern with coordinating nailhead trim along the seat border, adding definition and refinement to the silhouette.
Craftsmanship
Each chair is produced entirely by hand in the Brass & Wood Cairo atelier. Master craftsmen spend hours detailing the acanthus scrolls, floral crests, and cabriole legs — finishing each curve with precision files and gilded by hand using traditional leafing techniques. No two pieces are identical; each bears the subtle character of the artisan's hand.
