baroque-brass-mantel-clock-urn-finial-scroll-acanthus-base
Baroque Brass Mantel Clock with Urn Finial & Scroll Acanthus Base

Design & Inspiration

There is a particular authority that a finely wrought mantel clock lends to a room — a quiet declaration that time itself deserves to be marked with ceremony. This Baroque brass mantel clock, faithfully crafted in the grand European tradition, commands attention from the moment it is placed. Its silhouette rises dramatically: a vase-shaped body swelling with hammered and engraved relief, flanked by scroll-form side handles, and crowned by a classical urn finial mounted atop a reeded pedestal. The whole composition breathes the spirit of the great Baroque ateliers of 17th and 18th-century France and Flanders — monumental in intention, meticulous in execution.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Cast and hand-finished in brass, the clock's body is enveloped in a dense field of crosshatch engraving interspersed with foliate rosettes and scrolling acanthus motifs — the very grammar of Baroque ornamental vocabulary. The clock face is set within a circular bezel, its dark dial etched with an elegant floral arabesque in white, with red-tipped hands that provide sharp legibility without disrupting the overall aesthetic harmony. The base is a stepped plinth, alive with deeply cast acanthus leaf appliqué at center front and terminating in four bold claw feet — each one a sculptural flourish in its own right. The finish catches light warmly, conveying the weight and richness of an ormolu-mounted antique. Running on a reliable quartz movement, this piece unites old-world grandeur with modern precision timekeeping.

Dimensions & Details

Weighing 4 kg, this mantel clock has a substantial, reassuring presence. The massed proportions — the wide stepped plinth, the swelling body, the elevated finial — give it the visual weight of a much larger piece, making it equally suited to a library desk, a bedroom mantelpiece, or a formal reception sideboard. Its architecture is designed to be admired in the round: the side profile reveals the full depth of the engraved body and the delicate scroll handles that arch gracefully from shoulder to neck.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every Brass & Wood mantel clock is handcrafted in Egypt by artisans who draw on generations of metalworking tradition. This is not mass production; it is the continuation of a craft tradition that respects both material and maker. When you bring a Brass & Wood clock into your home, you receive not merely a timepiece but an object of considered artisanal excellence.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials is this clock made from?

This mantel clock is cast and hand-finished entirely in brass.
