Napoleon III Rococo Revival Hexagonal Brass Lantern Chandelier - Acanthus Scroll Crown
Design & Inspiration
Place this lantern chandelier at the center of an entrance hall and the room organizes itself around it. The contrast is immediate and intentional: gilded brass acanthus scrolls curling freely above, and below them a disciplined hexagonal body in matte black iron — the combination that defines the Napoleon III Rococo Revival at its most theatrical. This is the language of the grand Parisian hôtel particulier transplanted into a hanging fixture that commands attention without demanding it.
Materials & Craftsmanship
The upper crown is cast and hand-finished brass, its scrolling arms sweeping outward in the sinuous C-curves that characterize Second Empire ornament. Each acanthus leaf tip and foliate terminal is crisp — not the softened outline of a machine casting, but the decisive edge that only hand-finishing achieves. The hexagonal body is wrought iron, lacquered in deep matte black, with applied acanthus-leaf reliefs at the arched stile intersections and a foliate apron at the base. Six clear glass panels sit between the iron stiles, and the interior cluster of six candelabra sockets is finished in matching gold to echo the crown above. The two-tone palette — noir et or — is a conscious homage to the decorative vocabulary that Paris perfected between 1852 and 1870.

Handcrafted in Egypt
Every element of this lantern chandelier is produced by hand in the Brass & Wood workshops in Egypt — from the brass casting and hand-chasing of the acanthus crown to the iron lacquering and glass fitting of the body. Egyptian metalworking has a continuous tradition that predates the European periods this piece honors, and it shows in the quality of the hand-finishing. Each piece is inspected individually before dispatch.
