Design & Inspiration

There are objects that light a room, and then there are objects that define it. This handcrafted Rococo floor lamp belongs firmly to the second category. Inspired by the exuberant decorative language of 18th-century French Rococo — the age of Versailles, salon culture, and gilded excess — it commands attention with the quiet authority of a piece that knows exactly what it is: a work of applied art, as much as a source of light. From the moment your eye travels from the sweeping tripod base to the acanthus crown above the shade, you understand that every centimetre of this lamp was designed with intention.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The tripod base is the lamp's crowning structural achievement. Cast and hand-finished in brass, it erupts in deeply sculpted rocaille scrolls, acanthus leaf clusters, and foliate cartouches — motifs drawn directly from the vocabulary of Louis XV cabinetmakers. The three cabriole legs terminate in pronounced scroll feet, each one curling with organic confidence. Rising from the base, a reeded column — echoing the fluted pilasters of French palatial interiors — carries the composition upward to a centrepiece ceramic urn: hand-painted in white porcelain with gilded arabesque scrollwork and delicate floral medallions, a nod to the celebrated Sèvres porcelain tradition. A secondary spherical ceramic node reinforces the composition below, its painted decoration in perfect visual harmony with the urn above. The pleated white fabric shade, gathered into precise knife pleats, softens the lamp's metallic brilliance while casting a warm, diffused glow through fine woven fabric.

Dimensions & Details

This floor lamp is proportioned for grand spaces — a formal living room, a stately reception hall, or a classically furnished bedroom where it serves as an illuminated sculpture. The shade diameter reaches approximately 40 cm, providing generous ambient light. The overall silhouette is tall and commanding, with the off-centre scrolled arm suspending the shade at an elegant reading height. Weight: 4 kg. Bulb base: E27. Maximum wattage: 60W.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every lamp in the Brass & Wood classical lighting collection is individually produced in Egypt by artisans trained in traditional European decorative techniques. The brass components are cast, hand-chased, and finished by skilled metalworkers. The ceramic elements are hand-painted by ceramic artists who work within a lineage of European-inspired craft. No two pieces are perfectly identical — a hallmark of genuine handcraft. Custom brass finishes are available upon request, including Antique Gold and Silver, ensuring the lamp integrates seamlessly into your existing interior palette.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials is this floor lamp made from?

The lamp is constructed from hand-finished brass (base, column, and fittings), hand-painted white ceramic (urn body and spherical node), and a pleated white fabric shade. All metal components are finished by hand to achieve the rich, warm lustre visible in the product images.

Is assembly required?

Minimal assembly is required — typically connecting the column sections and attaching the shade arm. No specialist tools are needed. Detailed assembly instructions are included with every lamp.

Can this lamp be customised?

Yes. Brass & Wood offers customisation of the metal finish (Gold, Antique Gold, or Silver) and can accommodate special fabric shade colours upon request. Please contact our team before placing your order to discuss bespoke options.
