5-Seat Louis XV Gilded Hardwood Salon Sofa – Ivory Velvet
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of 18th-century French Rococo, this 5-seat salon sofa captures the exuberant spirit of the Louis XV court. The undulating serpentine crest rail, voluptuous cabriole legs, and cascading acanthus-leaf gilt carvings along the apron and armrests evoke the playful elegance that defined the era. Brass & Wood's master artisans in Egypt have faithfully reproduced every flourish, ensuring each piece reads as a genuine heirloom rather than a reproduction.
Materials & Finish
The structural frame is built from seasoned solid hardwood, shaped and hand-carved before receiving a deep, rich dark-brown hand-rubbed finish. Gold-leaf gilding is applied to every carved ornamental accent — from the floral crest medallion at the top rail to the scrolled knee blocks and the intricate apron frieze — creating a luminous contrast with the warm wood ground. The seating surfaces are dressed in a plush ivory-cream velvet, soft yet resilient, chosen to complement the gilt tones with understated luxury.
Craftsmanship
Every joint is hand-fitted by Brass & Wood's skilled craftsmen, and every carved motif is executed by hand rather than by machine router, preserving the organic depth of line that machine carving cannot replicate. The velvet upholstery is hand-cut, hand-stitched, and pulled taut over high-density foam cushions to achieve a clean, gallery-quality silhouette. This sofa is produced entirely in Egypt, where traditional woodworking and gilding techniques have been practiced continuously for generations.
