The arched headboard rises 160 centimeters — its carved crest cresting in a wave of hand-sculpted scrollwork, every surface bordered by hand-painted rose garlands in blush, coral, and soft green. The ivory lacquer ground ties the whole together with the quiet authority of French Provincial design at its most confident. This is a piece drawn directly from the tradition of 18th-century French country furniture — the regional interpretation of Parisian Rococo, stripped of aristocratic excess and given instead a domestic warmth that never dates.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The frame is constructed from solid pine dried to below 10% humidity — a specification that ensures dimensional stability through seasonal change and eliminates the warping risk that undermines lesser bedroom furniture. Every curve on the side rails, every sculpted transition on the corner posts, every cabriole leg with its characteristic outward splay has been shaped and finished by hand. The ivory lacquer is applied in multiple coats and hand-rubbed between layers to achieve a surface depth that plain factory paint cannot replicate. The headboard panel is set with open cane weave — a fine diagonal grid of natural rattan that adds texture without weight, and that catches afternoon light in a way no upholstered panel can. The floral garlands running along the headboard crest and the footboard rail are painted freehand, each rose and leaf drawn individually — not stenciled, not printed.
