Design & Inspiration

Modeled on the great pierced mirrors of the George III period, this frame surrounds its oval plate with an openwork lattice of rocaille C-scrolls, acanthus sprays and flambeau urns, all rising to a crest carved as a woven basket spilling flowers. The piercing lets the wall breathe through the frame — the signature theatrical lightness of mid-18th-century carving.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Carved from solid Romanian redwood (dried below 10% humidity), gilded and burnished by hand so highlights flash against shadowed recesses. The oval mirror plate is bevel-set within a ribbed giltwood surround.

Dimensions & Details

Width: 84 cm / Height: 150 cm. Commanding above a console or mantel, and equally at home as the centerpiece of a reception wall.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every scroll is carved and gilded in Egypt by the master carvers of Brass & Wood, keepers of Damietta's centuries-old craft.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the frame really pierced through?

Yes — the scrollwork is fully openwork, so the wall shows through the carving as in period originals.

How heavy is it to hang?

It hangs from two reinforced points on the frame back; we include fittings and guidance for masonry walls.

Can the finish be customized?

Yes — antique and silver-leaf finishes are available on request.
