Heritage Louis XV Ivory Lacquer Bed with Carved Rocaille Crest
The headboard rises in a soft serpentine sweep and gathers at its centre into a hand-carved rocaille crest, framed by shaped panels with moulded borders that answer the low, curving footboard below. Both ends are finished in a quiet ivory lacquer, so the carving reads as light and shadow rather than contrast, with scrolled acanthus leaves breaking over the corners and a carved cartouche set at the foot. Short cabriole legs and gently rolled uprights keep the whole silhouette buoyant despite its generous width.
Every leaf, shell and scroll is cut into solid timber by hand, then the lacquer is built up and rubbed back in layers until the surface holds a warm, mellow glow instead of a hard shine. Handcrafted by Brass & Wood in Egypt, this is a bed for a master bedroom dressed in cream, dove grey or the palest gold, where a restrained palette lets the carving carry the room on its own.
