Louis XV 3-Seat Salon Sofa with Gilt Wood & Damask Upholstery
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the opulent tradition of Louis XV French court furniture, this 3-seat salon sofa captures the graceful asymmetry and organic curves that define the Rococo aesthetic. The sweeping camelback silhouette, undulating armrests, and serpentine apron evoke the grandeur of eighteenth-century Versailles, reinterpreted by Brass & Wood artisans in Cairo for the modern luxury interior.
Materials & Finish
The sofa's solid wood frame is enveloped in hand-applied gilt accents and intricate brass ormolu mounts — delicate acanthus-leaf sabots at the cabriole legs, a scrolling foliate crest at the crown, and gilded bead-and-reel moulding along the apron. The exterior back and side panels showcase breathtaking hand-cut marquetry work: sweeping floral and arabesque veneers arranged in symmetrical cartouches that catch the light beautifully. The seating surfaces are dressed in a tone-on-tone ivory damask fabric with a raised floral repeat, lending the piece its characteristic palace-worthy luminosity.
Craftsmanship
Every element of this sofa is produced entirely by hand in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt. Master woodcarvers, marquetry specialists, and gilding artisans collaborate across weeks of meticulous work to achieve the level of detail visible in every curve and corner. The upholstery is hand-fitted and finished with coordinating cushions bearing silk rosette trim. This is heirloom furniture — built to be inherited.
