Materials & Craftsmanship

The carcass is built from solid pine dried to below 10% humidity — a specification that ensures dimensional stability across Egypt's variable climate. Every panel surface is finished in a smooth ivory lacquer, carefully built up in layers and lightly distressed along the carved edges to reinforce the period character. The carved mouldings — the serpentine top rail, the flowing cartouche at the crown center, the shaped apron, and the delicate cabriole feet — are hand-carved from solid wood and gilded in antique gold leaf. Brass drop handles on each door are cast in the period style, with the soft patina of aged metal rather than bright chrome. The interior is lined in a coordinating ivory finish with two pullout drawers recessed into the central bay.
