Brass & Wood Louis XVI Marquetry Buffet
Design & Inspiration
Rooted in the refined grandeur of Louis XVI neoclassicism, this Brass & Wood buffet captures the symmetrical elegance and restrained opulence that defined late-18th-century French court furniture. The serpentine-ended case with a demilune profile echoes the graceful forms favoured by the ébénistes of Versailles.
Materials & Finish
The carcass is constructed from solid wood dressed in richly figured veneers, hand-polished to a warm medium-brown lacquered finish that highlights the natural flame pattern. Intricate floral and foliate marquetry panels adorn every façade, executed in contrasting lighter wood inlays. Gilded brass ormolu mounts — including acanthus friezes, corner pilasters, rosette medallions and foliate apron mounts — complete the aristocratic composition.
Storage & Functionality
The interior reveals two hinged doors flanking a central double-door section, providing access to adjustable shelving. A frieze drawer runs across the upper centre for easy-access storage. The piece rests on shaped bracket feet with brass sabots.
Available Widths
This configurable buffet is available in widths of 200, 250, 300, 350, and 400 cm, allowing it to be tailored to your dining room or reception space. All sizes are handcrafted to order at the Brass & Wood Cairo atelier.
