Brass & Wood Louis XVI Shield-Back Dining Chair
Design & Inspiration
Drawn from the refined elegance of late 18th-century Louis XVI neoclassical interiors, this shield-back dining chair by Brass & Wood captures the restrained grandeur of the French court. The distinctive shield-shaped backrest, framed by intricately carved laurel and braid motifs finished in radiant gold leaf, stands as a testament to European classical craftsmanship reproduced in Cairo with meticulous attention to authenticity.
Materials & Finish
The chair's solid wood frame is entirely hand-carved and finished in a luminous gold-leaf lacquer, accentuating every ornamental detail along the apron, crest rail, and turned fluted legs. The back panel features a rich Gobelin-style fabric showcasing a hand-detailed floral bouquet of roses against a champagne ground with scrolling acanthus accents. The seat is upholstered in a complementary solid champagne velvet, providing a harmonious and luxurious surface.
Craftsmanship
Each chair is entirely handcrafted by Brass & Wood artisans, from the precise carving of the geometric lattice apron and the acanthus-carved leg capitals to the careful fitting of the upholstered panels. The result is a dining chair that functions equally as a work of decorative art.
Arm Type Options
This configurable chair is available in two arm type variants: With Arms, offering additional comfort and a more formal presence, and Without Arms, ideal for compact dining arrangements or mixed seating configurations.
