Louis XV Bombe Commode with Marquetry & Ormolu Mounts
Rococo Grandeur Reimagined
Inspired by the opulent commodes crafted for the Palace of Versailles during the reign of Louis XV, this serpentine bombe chest captures the essence of 18th-century French Rococo design. Its dramatically curved silhouette, asymmetrical flourishes, and exuberant floral motifs speak to an era that celebrated artistry above all else.
Exceptional Materials
The carcass is constructed from solid hardwood veneered in richly grained kingwood and tulipwood, arranged in a chevron parquetry pattern. The top is crowned with a genuine Emperador dark marble slab, its warm burgundy tones perfectly complementing the warm mahogany veneer below. Every brass mount is cast in solid brass and finished with a hand-applied antique gold patina.
Master Craftsmanship
Each drawer front is adorned with intricate hand-cut marquetry depicting scrolling acanthus leaves, blossoming florals, and naturalistic vines — a technique requiring hundreds of hours of precise inlay work. The cabriole legs terminate in delicately modelled ormolu sabots, while the escutcheons and drawer pulls are individually cast and chased by Brass & Wood artisans in our Cairo atelier.
