Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire and Neoclassical tradition, this column pedestal captures the imperial vocabulary of early 19th-century decorative arts. Its architectural form — a square verde antico marble base rising to a richly ornamented gilt bronze shaft — evokes the triumphal aesthetic of Napoleon's court and the refined opulence of the Empire style.

Materials & Finish

The pedestal is composed of two primary materials in perfect dialogue: verde antico marble, prized for its deep green tone and dramatic white veining, forms the base plinth and capital cap; and hand-cast gilt bronze ormolu, finished in warm 24-carat gold plating, adorns every transitional surface. The ormolu panels feature classical motifs — garland swags, urns, acanthus leaves, grotesque masks, and foliate arabesques — each hand-chased to crisp definition.

Craftsmanship

Every piece is individually handcrafted in Brass & Wood's Egyptian atelier by artisans trained in the European classical tradition. The bronze elements are lost-wax cast, then hand-finished and gilded; the marble components are precision-cut and hand-polished. The result is a sculptural pedestal of museum-worthy presence, designed to elevate a bust, sculpture, vase, or decorative object in any grand interior.
