Louis XVI Neoclassical Ivory Lacquer Buffet with Gilt Brass Garland Hardware
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the refined elegance of the Louis XVI era, this buffet captures the neoclassical spirit of 18th-century French court furniture. Its serpentine centre section, fluted pilasters, and symmetrical panelling reflect the disciplined grandeur that defined the period's finest ateliers.
Materials
Crafted from solid hardwood and finished in a warm antique ivory lacquer with subtle distressing, the piece is topped with a bevelled clear glass panel that both protects and highlights the fine woodwork beneath. Decorative hardware is cast in solid brass with an antique gold finish.
Craftsmanship
Each drawer front is hand-carved with delicate ribbon-and-garland motifs, a hallmark of Louis XVI ornamental vocabulary. Tapered, fluted legs are crowned with hand-carved acanthus capitals, while the cabinet doors feature recessed raised-moulding panels. Every detail is executed by Brass & Wood's master craftsmen in Egypt, honouring centuries-old joinery traditions.
Finishing Touches
The antique brass drawer pulls are individually cast and hand-polished, providing a warm contrast against the ivory ground. The overall silhouette balances grandeur with refined proportion, making this piece a commanding centrepiece for any classic interior.
