Louis XVI Neoclassical Chest of Drawers with Gilded Laurel Wreath Carvings

Design Inspiration

Rooted in the refined elegance of Louis XVI Neoclassicism, this commode draws from the great French ébénistes of the 18th century. The repeated laurel wreath cartouches — symbols of victory and distinction — cascade across both drawer fronts and side panels, evoking the grandeur of Versailles' private apartments.

Materials

Crafted from solid wood with a hand-applied distressed lavender-grey lacquer finish, the piece is enriched with individually carved gilded ornaments in warm antique gold. The top is finished in a delicate blush-toned marble, adding natural veining and cool luxury to the warm tones below. Slender tapered legs are accented with carved acanthus leaf capitals.

Craftsmanship

Every laurel leaf, ribbon tie, and floral rosette is hand-carved and individually gilded by Brass & Wood's master artisans in Egypt, ensuring no two pieces are identical. The two deep drawers glide on precision-fitted wooden runners, combining historic construction techniques with refined functionality.
