Brass & Wood Louis XVI Marquetry Brass-Mounted Dining Table
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the refined vocabulary of Louis XVI Neoclassicism, this dining table by Brass & Wood pays tribute to the golden age of French cabinetmaking. The elongated rectangular form, disciplined symmetry, and restrained yet sumptuous ornamentation recall the great ébénistes of the late eighteenth century. The piece is equally at home in a palatial dining hall or a contemporary grand residence seeking old-world grandeur.
Materials & Finish
The tabletop showcases a breathtaking expanse of book-matched veneer crowned by elaborate floral and foliate marquetry medallions rendered in contrasting wood tones. A deep high-gloss lacquer finish magnifies the natural figuring of the wood, creating a mirror-like reflective surface. The apron is adorned with cast brass swag-and-tassel garlands, acanthus foliate cartouches, and a continuous gilded bead-and-reel border that frames the entire perimeter.
Craftsmanship
Each table is entirely handcrafted in the Brass & Wood Cairo atelier. The tapered, fluted legs are hand-turned and fitted at the knee with gilded brass acanthus capitals; the feet terminate in polished brass sabots. All brass mounts are individually cast, chased, and gilded to a warm antique-gold tone. The marquetry is laid by hand, piece by piece, following traditional French parquetry techniques.
