Louis XV Rococo Mahogany & Gilt Bronze Commode with Glass Door
Royal Inspiration: The Spirit of Louis XV
This magnificent commode draws its soul from the golden age of French Rococo, a period defined by flowing curves, asymmetric ornament, and a celebration of natural beauty. The Louis XV era produced furniture of unrivalled elegance, and this piece captures every nuance — from its serpentine silhouette to its cabriole legs crowned with gilded sabots. Brass & Wood recreates these timeless masterpieces so that today's discerning homes may share in the grandeur of Versailles.
Materials & Finish
The body is constructed from solid mahogany, selected for its deep, lustrous grain and exceptional structural integrity. Every surface is hand-polished to a high gloss that reveals the natural warmth of the wood. Intricate brass inlay banding traces the contours of each panel, while a full suite of hand-cast gilt bronze ormolu mounts — floral medallions, foliate corner cartouches, scrolling apron centrepiece, and claw-tipped sabots — envelop the piece in authentic period splendour. The central glazed door features a brass grille, opening to reveal a spacious interior lined in rich crimson velvet.
Craftsmanship & Detail
Each commode is assembled entirely by hand in the Brass & Wood atelier, following traditional joinery techniques passed down through generations. The gilt bronze mounts are individually cast, chased, and polished before being hand-applied, ensuring no two pieces are ever identical. The result is a statement heirloom that elevates any living room, dining room, or grand entrance hall with the irreplaceable warmth of handmade luxury.
