The piece draws from the Louis XVI Neoclassical tradition at its most decorative: ivory-painted solid wood framed by rope-twist gilt moldings, four tapered and fluted gilt columns standing on turned feet, and a front panel that functions as a miniature painting in relief. The pale aqua ground of the cabinet door sets off polychrome roses, bluebells, and foliage arranged in a wreathed garland — a motif lifted directly from the decorative vocabulary of French Neoclassical ébénisterie and the Florentine polychrome tradition it absorbed.

The twisted rope stretcher at the base is both structural and ornamental, a signature detail of Louis XVI case furniture.
