Design & Inspiration

Place this stool before a dressing table and the room arranges itself around it. The cream-painted frame, the scrolled cabriole legs curling to restrained volutes at each foot, the hand-modeled roses and anemones blooming in soft pink, blue, and sage across the apron — together they reconstruct the intimate femininity that defined the Louis XV boudoir. This is not a seat so much as an accent piece that happens to seat you. Faithfully reproduced in the tradition of the French Rococo vanity stool, it draws from the design vocabulary of the 1730–1770 period, when even utilitarian furniture was expected to delight the eye.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The frame is built from solid pine seasoned to below 10% humidity, ensuring dimensional stability that resists the warping and splitting common in lesser-quality reproductions. The cream finish is applied in layered paint coats, then lightly distressed by hand to achieve the softly worn patina characteristic of true Rococo provincial pieces. Each floral cluster on the apron — roses, open anemones, leafy sprigs — is carved and modeled individually by hand, then painted in polychrome with delicate shading. A braided cord trim at the seat-to-frame junction adds a final couture detail. The seat itself is generously padded and upholstered in ivory velvet, cut and fitted to the slightly rounded square plan of the top.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every stool in this collection is made entirely by hand in our Cairo atelier by craftsmen trained in classical European furniture-making techniques. The carving of the polychrome floral apron alone requires hours of individual hand work — no two pieces are precisely identical. Brass & Wood sources only solid pine for structural integrity, and every painted finish is applied and aged by a dedicated finishing team. This is furniture made the way it was always meant to be made: slowly, carefully, and with full attention to what the original designers intended.
